Starting today, I made some calculations about my future.
For optimal results in the test that I’m preparing for (will take place in three years), I’ll need an anki deck of about fifty thousand cards.
Can it be shrinked further? Sure, but at that point I’d be risking vital information by sacrificing certain information, or cramming multiple facts in one flashcard (would make the study time longer and inefficient in the end)
So, all in all, I studied/worked on making the cards for about five hours and half, which can always be improved further. This is how the progress is looking like.
Card to be made: 50000
Cards made today: 167
Cards learned today: 210 (I’ve been making cards over the past few days, so I have a backlog of 450ish cards)
So, I’ve made about 0.4% progress, and with a deadline of 730ish days, things are looking good.
However, I wasted a lot of time, especially near the end of the day where my performance diminished extremely. I’m going to attempt eating more snacks tomorrow, and we’ll see how I do.
I’ll work on lowering the time I take per card, through an anki addon (Speed Focus Mode).
We’ll see how it goes. As a matter of fact, I won’t have the luxury of having so much free time, as unexpected events might happen everyday, so the progress will be faster at times, or maybe slower depending on circumstances and optimization.
Not to mention, the biggest obstacle to progress in the future will be the piling up reviews. If I end up with 1500 reviews a days, then they’ll take me three hours if I spend only seven seconds per cards.
So, shit will get tougher, but I’ll be tougher as well.
Regardless, we’re rolling and the ball isn’t stopping anytime soon.
This is the most important part of planning for goals way ahead. You need to visualize the destructive problems to possibly occur, and work on eliminating them long before they appear.
Life doesn’t always follow the pattern we imagine, but when it does, at least we should be prepared for that.

blurb:
My efficiency right now is 71 cards an hour, which I based on cards learned/created together. My goal is to reach at least a hundred cards an hour before the end of 2025 through fixing low hanging fruit like my dwindling energy and time per card. I need to become better at this, and I’ll track my progress in time.
